Gage Powers - Class of 2017

Photographing seniors is a curious proposition.  Many of them have personalities that are well-established as to how they perceive themselves and how they want the world to see them.  Therefore, whenever I have a session with a high school student I like to meet them in a chat session before the shoot so that we can mesh both our personalities ahead of time.  It just makes the shoot a whole lot easier and quicker.

However, after my conference with Gage and his mom I went away thinking he was neither impressed with me, my talents, or the idea of being photographed.  It was the typical "guy thing" and I concluded that I was going to have my work cut out for me the day of the session.  Yet, I'll have to admit that I had totally misjudged him.  The day of the shoot Gage was on point and it was a pleasure watching him become more comfortable before the camera with each shot.

What I like about this session with Gage is that it shows a mature young man who didn't put on airs but stayed true to himself.  Maybe that's why he drives a big ole honking truck named "Dixie" and is already successfully employed.  Congratulations, Gage, you're my top "Senior of the Year" candidate.  I wish you lots of success upon graduating.

Jazmine Dinkins

I have an amazing relationship with my granddaughter.  I humorously bug the heck out of her and likewise she does the same to me.  It's really a mutual consensus between the two of us whether it done thru phone calls, emails or in person.  We simply enjoy messing with each other psyched.  So, whenever she comes to visit she ALWAYS holds me hostage to either videotaping her or giving her a quick portrait session.  You see she is a "drama-tista", actress, dance teacher, major player in performing arts and everything in between.  In other words she's a professional "Grandpa Manipulator".  Okay, so I'm proud of her and I play into her hands.  Anyway, here are a few images I recently created of her over the Christmas holiday. I guess they'll hold up until her next visit.  In retrospect, I think she's an awesome beautiful young woman who is truly proud of her Christian heritage and womanhood.

Mary Anne Powers

I met Mary Anne a little over 5 years ago when I first moved to Georgia and my wife and I were dealing with the issues of converting our healthcare coverage to the new state.  She's a licensed insurance agent.  I would have to ask her how we met because quite frankly I don't remember, but it seems like a lifetime because we hit it off the very first time that we met.

I have to confess that this session with her involved a little "photographic blackmail" because when she asked me to photograph her son's senior portraits I stipulated that I would only do it if she would  pose for a portrait session with me.  The deal was made and it was a great session because Mary Anne has such gorgeous eyes and a bubbly, carefree spirit that would make any portrait photographer's job easy.  She has an infectious smile and that's what's so special about her, likewise I also desired to create some shots of her that showed her deeper personality.  It was a fun session, Mary Anne, and I think you enjoyed the moment as much as I did.  You are a beautiful woman and your portraits are awesome!
