10th Annual Heritage Festival

I'm not certain where I was last year in that I did not get the opportunity to attend this annual festival.  However, this year not only was I able to attend but I was selected as the "Official Photographer" for this City event.  The Festival was held at the Liberty Park Community Center in Grovetown, GA.

This year's event offered a 5K Run, Youth Bicycle Rodeo, Hot Air Balloon Rides, U.S. Army Signal Corps Band, Car Show, Karaoke/Open Mike, the Firehouse Band, A Golf Cart Giveaway, Bounce Houses, Rock Climbing, David Daughtry & The Good Ol' Boys Band, and over 50 vendors and plenty of food.

Aprille Phillips - Dancer Extraordinaire

If ever there were two art forms that are completely compatible, I believe that dancing and photography are a perfect match. The two professions produce similar emotions that ascribe to illusion of lines, forms, and geometry in making powerful statements that sometimes can only be interpreted by the viewer. To me that is what's so exciting about photographing a professional dancer.

Met a "dancer extraordinaire"...Aprille Phillps. I don't remember how Aprille found out about my photography, but when I visited her studio to discuss doing publicity images for her business I was anxious to begin the job. What really excited me was when I asked her to show me a few of the moves she wanted me to capture. Her dance movements were "divine" and I was completely drawn into the spirituality of her talents.
I'm certain you will be able to experience in the following images just how awesome this woman is at performing dance. This is a session I won't forget.

Enjoy!

Jennifer Evans' Portrait Session

"I love taking pictures" is all that Jennifer had to tell me one day when I mentioned that I'd like to photograph her. After waiting weeks for the weather to warm up, finally we decided to give the session a go regardless of what the day brought. Well, it was raining, nonetheless once we got on location and started shooting miraculously the rain stopped and we had fun creating some of the following images.

Jennifer confessed to me that although she likes taking pictures she's never had a session with a professional photographer. My hat is off to her because I think she did extremely well in front of the camera and I look forward to another session with her in the future.

Enjoy!

To start the session off I included Jennifer's mom in a shot.
This is one of my favorite images of Jennifer.
I went into the session wanting to create this portrait.

Jennifer has a great smile, but I challenged
her serious side in this image.
