Like Mother...Like Daughter

Once again I get the pleasure to write about a client relationship that has span not only years but centuries.  It started with me photographing the mother's wedding (Diana Holiday) more than 10-15 years ago then later in 2008 when she contracted me to photograph her daughter's (Erin) senior portraits.  Recently, I got the called to cover Erin's wedding and it was at that moment I realized that I was not just another professional photographer, but I was part of their family.

I was delighted to see that the young teenager I'd photographed years ago had now grown into a young woman and was becoming the wife to the man of her choice. It's moments like this in my career that started back in 1969 when I decided to become a photographer that speaks to the heart and the reasoning why I love the art of photography.  One could say that photography is ageless in content and perpetual in personal relationships.

Over the years I have maintained complete control over the images I've taken of my clients and so to add a little nostalgia to this blog I went into my archives to see what I could find on Erin. I figured I would drop in a few images of her senior session to tie this posting all together.  (If I had to I do believe that I could just about name ever (almost) client that I've photographed.  It gets to be that personal when you really connect with your subject).  When I began photographing Erin the day of her wedding it was if I was photographing her the day after her senior session, except...  Now she was transformed into a beautiful bride!

Congratulations Erin and Donald.  It was awesome seeing you again, Erin and Diana, and a pleasure covering your special day.

Enjoy!

Willie

Ashley and Donald's Wedding - The "perfect couple"

June 1, 2004, WE tv debuted a reality series titled Bridezilla which featured the interactions of a bride-to-be going through the early preparations of her wedding day up to its conclusion.  You know the story:  Young, rich, spoiled, evil, ranting, uncontrollable, "I want it my way!" difficult woman who cusses out everyone that gets in the way of her desires.

Well, I'd like to offer the networks a new reality show idea called Angel Brides. The episodes would feature a bride-to-be and show that her personality was under control and her wedding day came off just as she had envisioned because she displayed impeccable character.  Now if I was casting the first couple to star in this pilot show without hesitation it would be Ashley Kovacs and Donald Tessier.

Over the years I have photographed numerous weddings that I felt were a charade of "show-and-tell" with the atmosphere of a circus.  Of these weddings if you would peel back the layers of self gratification on display I don't think you would find the main ingredient of why two people get married:  Pure unselfish love for each other.

Wow, let me tell you about the love, kinship, and fun I captured with my camera between Ashley and Donald, their parents and relatives, and ALL their wonderful friends and guests during a recent wedding.  An aura prevailed that shone intensely the entire day of the wedding and I'm sure has grown even brighter since their vows exchange.  I could go on for paragraphs and for days bragging about what a beautiful, smart, and gracious couple Ashley and Donald were on their wedding day.  Their relationship with everyone around them spoke of the kinds of qualities professional wedding photographers appreciate in their clients.

So, take a look at the following photographs and see if you don't agree with me that they are the "perfect couple".  Ashley and Donald I wish you well and may you grow old together.  Oh yeah, and I'm certain Teri and Bill are expecting wonderful grand kids who will carry on your legacy.

Enjoy!
